Pierre’s musical adventures started in earnest in 1988 when the student saxophone ensemble that he founded and was writing arrangements for got selected to represent France (together with the Amiens jazz big band) at the European Student Music Festival in Bonn, West Germany. He went on to compose for saxophones (see below!), choir, and vocal ensembles. Pierre became Assistant Director to the Kean Jazz Ensemble while he was adjunct professor at the Music Conservatory of Kean University, Union, New Jersey, from 2005-2012. This gave him numerous opportunities, under the mentorship of Andy Fusco, to arrange or compose for the big band, various jazz combos and vocal groups, and to start writing lyrics to jazz tunes as well. He pursued his interest in writing music (and lyrics) in various styles, e.g. salsa tunes for a summer festival in Québec; an Ave Maria for Canticel –a French contralto voice/organ duet—; a percussion ensemble piece for a Hong Kong East-West music festival (see below!). Pierre has been studying orchestration and composition privately with Adam Gilberti of the Herb Alpert School of Music at UCLA. His music is often an invitation to travel through time or around the world…
