“Gloria” was written for the National Chorale at the request of Artistic Director, Dr. Everett McCorvey. It was premiered in April 2022 with Jeryl Cunningham, soprano; Hope Koehler, mezzo soprano; Gregory Turay, tenor; Kenneth Overton, baritone, Casey Robards and Anthony Patterson, piano; Barry Centanni, timpani; and the National Chorale conducted by Everett McCorvey.
With text from the Latin “Gloria” prayer, the work is meant to be an exaltation of life. The piece is dedicated to the composer’s father, Richard Patterson (1928-2022).
