2000 SYDNEY OLYMPIC BAND (Australia)

Youth musicians from across the world came together in Sydney, Australia, to perform an integral part of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. The band consisted of 1,000 Australian musicians with the remaining 1,000 musicians being from other countries around the world. The band spent almost two weeks rehearsing in the town of Bathurst, New South Wales, which became temporarily known as “BandTown”. In addition to the Opening Ceremony, the band performed as part of the Torch Relay as it proceeded through Bathurst.
