Jaka was born on the 4th of May 1987 in Ljubljana. He has lived most of his life in the suburban town called Vrhnika, where he started his musical education at the age of six as a piano player. After finishing primary school, Jaka continued his musical education at the High school of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana (Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory). At the age of 17 he wrote his first piece titled Nebo (The Sky) for mixed choir which was performed in the Slovenian Philharmonic (Building).

After high school graduation in 2006, Jaka successfully auditioned at the Academy of music in Ljubljana where he studied composition and music theory. Two years later, he also started teaching music theory in primary music school in Vrhnika. Under the mentorship of his professor Jani Golob, Jaka wrote several pieces for different music ensembles.

In 2011 Jaka was awarded with the Prešeren award for students (the highest honor bestowed on students for their theses) for an hour-long ballet Grandma and the pot of fairy tales for symphonic orchestra and dance ensemble. The piece was performed more than fifty-times.

Jaka took over the leadership of youth symphonic orchestra and woodwind orchestra in 2012. He was conductor of these ensembles for 5 years and we can say this was the most productive time up to date.
As the composer and conductor Jaka led primary school symphonic orchestra Vrhnika to win an international contest in Hengalo (Netherlands) in 2013 with four pieces on the theme of Slovenian folk music.

In the last five years Jaka has composed various arrangements for symphonic and woodwind orchestra, the most important being his original music Missa in honorem sancti Dominici Savio for soprano, alto, youth choir and symphonic orchestra, ballet Christmas tree for symphonic orchestra, suite for symphonic orchestra, two rhapsodies for woodwind orchestra (on the theme of Slovenian folk songs) and his 2nd symphony Vrhnika for soprano, mezzosoprano, two choirs and symphonic orchestra.
